Voting in Vantaa’s municipal and county elections

You can vote in the municipal and county elections in Vantaa during the early voting period from April 2nd to April 8th at any early voting location. On the official election day, April 13th, you must vote at your assigned polling station, which is usually the nearest school to your home. You can find information about polling stations here: https://www.aanestyspaikat.fi/

You have the right to vote if you have lived permanently in Finland for two years. You do not need to be a Finnish citizen to vote in the municipal and county elections. When voting, you must bring an official ID with a photo.

Choosing the right candidate can sometimes be challenging, especially if you have lived in Finland for only a short time.

I have served for four years—one full term—as a city councilor in Vantaa and as a county councilor in the Vantaa and Kerava Wellbeing Services County. The Vantaa City Council makes decisions about schools, kindergartens, parks, libraries, streets, land use, and construction. The Vantaa and Kerava Wellbeing Services County is responsible for health centers, hospitals, social services, elderly care, and fire departments.

My party is the Finns Party. You may have heard claims that this party is racist. This is an unfortunate and false misunderstanding. While the Finns Party values Finnish culture, language, and traditions and wants to keep Finland the great country it is—just like you chose to live here—is that really a bad thing? You probably also appreciate Finland but have noticed some things that could be improved. I believe that our well-being must be preserved for our children. This requires responsible use of taxpayer money, prioritizing what is truly important over less essential matters.

It is crucial to attract new businesses to Vantaa, as this creates more jobs. Families with children should have access to good services and housing options like townhouses and single-family homes, where children have space to grow. Schools must be safe places, free from bullying and violence. I also care deeply about protecting local nature.

I have been city councillor for one term (four years) and councillor of Vantaa and Kerava Wellbeing Services County also one term. Participating in politics in Finland is commonly a side work. That’s the case also for me and at my day time job I’m working as a Office Manager for a Lithuanian company here in Finland, Vantaa. I’ve been in politics for 13 years now. My background is from South Carelia county near the Russian border from the farm. We had cows and even as a little girl I participated all the works needed to be done at the farm. My education is a restaurant chef from the vocational school.
